The Great Pupscape: Dog Day Out Program

Who We Are

A dog day out is a spin on the traditional foster program. It is a program where shelter dogs are taken on short field trips to spend time outside of the shelter, providing stress relief, socialization, exercise and exposure.

What We Do

Dogs can spend long hours in their kennels, sometimes even up to 23 hours! The shelter can be a strange and scary place. There are lots of strange sounds and smells, loud barking, unfamiliar people. Overtime the stress and confinement can take a toll mentally and physically on the dogs and can lead to them declining and could lead to behavioural complications
A Dog Day out provides a simple solution to shelter decline and creates a way for the animals (and people) to interact with the community, alleviate some of the stressors for the dogs and help gain exposure for adoptable dogs! Sometimes, the most beneficial part is a quiet nap in the car, away from the noise and bustle of the shelter.

How to apply:

Start by creating an account, you will then be directed to our application questions!

The application includes a series of questions to help us get to know you, your home, and your experience with animals. At the end of the application, you’ll see a requirement for a police record check, don’t worry, you do not need to complete this on your own right away.
Once your application is submitted, our team will review it and reach out with next steps. We will guide you through the process, including assisting you in obtaining your police check at no cost.
We’re excited to support you every step of the way!

Important note: Please opt into all communications from GetConnected/Galaxy Digital to ensure you do not miss out on important information including the status of your application as well as important appointments (medical, adoption) for your foster!
